Mapleton is the last Hinterland town along the Northern end of the Blackall Range, located between Flaxton and Nambour. Originally home to fruit growers, vegetables and cereal crops, it opened its sawmill in 1909 where timber cutters extracted red cedar and beech timber which was taken to Nambour for processing. The small town of Mapleton provides a quiet place to rest and take in its beautiful natural surroundings, and a great place to lay down a blanket and breathe in the fresh cool mountain air before descending to the coast. With several park and forest areas the town delights both its local and distant visitors with its natural beauty.
