The remarkable Glasshouse Mountains are a series of steep sided volcanic plugs which dominate the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. You can climb, scale, walk around or simply gaze at them from the front entrance of the Ecolodge.
Located just 90 minutes north of Brisbane in the heart of the National Heritage listed Glasshouse Mountains, a stay at the Ecolodge is a truly unique experience. Explore off the beaten track, go for a bush walk, taste the wide variety of tropical fruits.
Listen to the sounds of the Australian bush from your own room. All guest accommodation is provided with towels and linen.
The Queen Studio Mountain View Room features polished floors, a private en-suite bathroom and an outdoor deck with table and chairs and spectacular views of Mt. Tibrogargan.
The Forest Family Room features private en-suite bathroom, tiled floors with views of the beautiful rainforest.
Guests may wish to take advantage of our beautifully restored Queensland Rail carriage for preparing their own meals or dine out at one of the cafes, restaurants and hotels in the area. A continental style breakfast is also available for purchase at the office.
The Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge is an ideal choice for groups of up to 25 people requiring a quiet and relaxing location for a retreat, boutique conference workshop or family re-union.
Keith has lived locally for over 20 years so is a great resource for advice on local activities and attractions. We are able to book many activities and tours for you at no extra cost.
Walking tracks of the Glasshouse Mountains start at the front entrance of the Ecolodge. The Ecolodge has two short self guided walks on the property - The Orchard Walk amongst the 60 tropical and exotic fruits. Taste and smell the fruits and nuts in season. It is all yours to enjoy.
The Bush Tucker Walk meanders through the rainforest and creek area.
2 National Parks walks start 400 metres from the entrance of the Ecolodge. Take a packed lunch and off you go!
The Glasshouse Mountains Lookout (located only a few kilometres from the Ecolodge) is a popular spot for a picnic, BBQ or a sunset drink. Spectacular views of the volcanic plugs and surrounding plains to the sea inspire any one.
The Ecolodge has identified over 55 species of birds on the property. Our Bird identification book allows you to record your sightings. Binoculars are provided. Our library also carries a range of bird and local wildlife books.
Another wonderful activity is planting a tree. The owners first started planting trees on the site in 1982 and have now replaced a previous mono-cultured pineapple farm with a bird and wildlife retreat. To date guests have helped plant hundreds of trees and vines on the property and in doing so have helped offset their own carbon emissions. So rather than click onto someone else's carbon credit website why not plant a tree as part of your holiday experience. All funds raised are donated to local environment group's tree planting activities.
For the adventurous - get the blood rushing! Go on one of our Ecolodge adventures - abseiling, climbing, skydiving, kayaking, or hot air ballooning. The Ecolodge uses a variety of local operators to conduct these tours. All begin within 30 minutes of the Ecolodge.
Visit Australia Zoo - only 10 minutes drive from the Zoo. Pre-purchase your tickets upon arrival at the Ecolodge and avoid the entrance queues by using a priority access.
The Sunshine Coast is famous for its beaches and only half an hour drive faway. Learn to surfboard. What great fun to do with your children!
After a long day out exploring why not relax in our Lounge car/library which has a range of novels, board games and chess. There is a series of guide books about environmental projects being undertaken at the Ecolodge and binoculars available for bird watching.
Opened in September 2004, the Glass House Mountains Ecolodge provides a unique style of accommodation - a beautiful peaceful retreat in the heart of the Glasshouse Mountains, situated in an organic orchard aat the foot of Mt.Tibrogargan.
The Ecolodge is the perfect place to unwind and relax where the sounds of mobiles have been replaced by the early morning bush orchestra of birds. No highway noise here!
