St Helens is the largest town on Tasmania’s North East Coast. It also sits on top of the coast, making it the perfect place to start your adventure down Tasmania’s coastal towns and villages. St Helens in only 2 hours from Launceston and 3 hours from the Hobart CBD, so it is in a fantastic location to escape from the urban sprawl of Tasmania’s 2 biggest cities. Go for a short and peaceful walk to St Helens point. Here you can relax on the sands, go for a swim in the blue waters or gaze at the spectacular Peron Dunes. St Helens is particularly well known for its fishing, in fact it has the best game fish in all of Tasmania. Catch all the fish you can carry, and sample the local produce yourself by staying in one of the fantastic self contained apartments in the area. Binalong Bay is nearby, and full of golden beaches and peaceful waters. Also nearby and ready to explored is the stunning Bay of Fires. The fishing town of Bicheno is further down the coast, and only 1.5 hours away is the amazing Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park. With its beautiful trees and breathtaking views, it is well worth the 1.5 hour journey. Anywhere up and down the coast is a fantastic holiday location and St Helens in no exception.
